STAFF
Michelle Bergeron (owner/manager) has over thirty years
experience with horses, and is actively showing today. Michelle has
a wonderful coaching disposition and continually challenges riders
of all ages and skill levels. Click on "About RLEC" to the left to
learn more.
FACILITIES
RLEC is situated on 15 acres in St. Gabriel, Louisiana. The
property is fenced and cross fenced with 5 foot tall doweled round
pole fence. We have many jumps and are planning several cross
country jumps as well. We have a PVC Dressage Arena from
Premiere Equestrian set up on some great Bermuda grass turf.
Rick built a two story 12 x 24 air conditioned tack room and most
recently a concrete covered wash rack. There is ample room to ride
and it is only a short distance to the Mississippi river where long
levee rides are possible. Visit the "About RLEC" link to the left
to learn more.
LOCATION
Right Lead Equestrian Center is located on Bayou Paul Lane, just
south of the University Club on Hwy 30 (Nicholson Extension). From
Baton Rouge take Bluebonnet down to Hwy 30 and take a left towards
Gonzales. Approximately 3 miles down you will come to a traffic
light which is the Bayou Paul, Hwy 30 intersection. Take a right
towards the river. We are 1 mile down on your right.
Map to RLEC. Click on Satellite for an aerial view. If you are
interested in coming out to view a lesson or for a better view of
the place please call Michelle to schedule an appointment, or if
you're feeling lucky just drop by and you might find us there.

06/20-21 - Well what do you do when the heat index is well over 100? You
hold a schooling clinic of course. Becky Holder (see
info here) came down to hold an eventing clinic. We had 15 riders in
all which filled the two days. Day one was held in the BREC indoor arena
where we schooled over show jumps. Rick took pictures in the indoor (available
here). Day two was held out on the cross country course, and although
parts of it were wet from high Mississippi River levels we did get a chance to
work over many obstacles. Rick also took pictures of the cross country
schooling (available
here). Thanks a million to Becky for
coming in for the clinic. Everyone had a wonderful time and we always
learn so much from her!

05/30 - What a great day for a Jumper show! We packed up Katie and
Journey. Emily and Cameron cam along to help. Courtney packed up her
horse Teasel, and her mom and grandmother for the trip. I don't remember
the placings right off hand (girls can help me out if you want), but there were
lots of ribbons. Photos can be viewed
HERE.

05/17 - Dressage Schooling Show at Sacred Heart Academy was the place to be today.
We packed up Katie/Journey, Jessica & Rachael/Lightning, Alex/Spirit.
Michelle R, Emily, Libby, and a couple of sets of parents came as well.
Rick smoked some chicken and brought some sides and several others pitched in as
well (John had is kickin' Caesar salad). It would have been a bit nicer if
mother nature wouldn't have made it 65 degrees with a light rain most of the
day, but we all still had a great time and brought home a lot of ribbons.
Alex placed 5th intro A and 4th intro B. Katie placed 1st in BN A and BN B.
Rachel placed 1st intro B, 3rd training test 1, and Champion in Intro.
Jessica placed 1st training A and in Prix Caprilli #2. Thanks to Emily,
Libby, and Michelle R. for coming out to help with the show. Photos can be viewed
HERE.

04/19 - RLEC packed up Emily/Ally and Katie/Journey and drove up to Benton, LA

04/05 - Fleur de Leap Combined Test was held on Sunday April 5 at Lagniappe Farm
in Folsom, LA. Thanks to show organizer Elizabeth Cummins and all her helpers
for a great event. RLEC planned to bring Katie/Journey and Emily/Ally so
Elizabeth asked Rick to take pictures of the entire event. Photos can be viewed
HERE. Emily/Ally took blue
in the Training division and lowest Dressage score for seniors and the lowest
overall score for seniors. Katie/Journey
also took first place in the Beginner Novice Division. Great job girls!

03/21 - RLEC was asked by BREC to perform demonstrations at it's open house
event "Spring Fling and Stick Horse Rodeo". We packed up Katie/Journey,
Jessica/Lightning, Emily/Ally, and Michelle/Emma and made the short journey over
to BREC. There were many activities for children and adults alike. We managed to
capture a few pictures of the "best hat" contest before getting ready for our
portion of the event. RLEC did both a jumping and sidesaddle demonstration. It
was great fun for the crowd and lots of fun for us as well. Photos can be
viewed
HERE.

03/08 - The Cross Country Schooling Day at BREC was a lot of fun. We packed up
several of our students and horses from RLEC and met up with several others at
BREC. There were quite a few others in attendance as well. Rick managed to
capture a few good photos of our bunch. Photos can be viewed
HERE.

02/14 - Thanks to Laura Adare and
Kristine Fricke for putting on Valentine's in the Park
(Hunter Jumper Schooling Show) at BREC. Some of our group
made it out to the event. Rachel and Lightening took 1st
and 4th o/f and 1st on the flat for champion in Short
Stirrup Equitation. Nicole and Spirit took 3rd and 5th o/f
and 3rd u/s in Child/adult hunter division. Libby groomed.
Libby and Katie hacked around the show grounds on Spirit and
Journey since the x-c schooling was cancelled. Our almost
1 year old Cleveland Bay Sprite toured the show grounds (and
visited with some of her fan club) as part of her field trip
to the show. Great job everyone! Pictures can be found on
Roy Pino Photography.

02/08 - Congratulations to Emily and Ally who took the long
trip for the Popular Place Horse Trials in Hamilton, GA. They competed at
Novice Rider level and were in second place going into cross country!
Unfortunately a spectator inadvertently distracted Ally as she was approaching a
cross country jump and Ally couldn't compose herself before the approach.
Emily/Ally took eighth place anyway. Way to go Emily!
