Right Lead Equestrian
Center will be a leader in the equestrian community providing the
greatest value in service to its riders and
equines through proven care and educational systems overseen by
qualified instructors. We will be leaders in the promotion of
quality horsemanship and equine related activities to our customers and
neighboring communities.
RLEC Statement of Purpose
The purpose of the Right
Lead Equestrian Center is to educate all people involved in equine
activities on proper horsemanship including: total care for equines and
their environment, safe and proper equine handling techniques, correct
habits of riding as derived from the classical hunt seat, and an overall
sense of good sportsmanship. It is the intention of the program to
increase physical, mental, and social development of its participants
through a well rounded base of knowledge and interaction with the
equine.
RLEC Scope
Right Lead Equestrian
Center is divided into three parts: Equine Boarding, Equine Training,

interested in the best value for care and
maintenance of their equine while taking advantage of a quality run
facility. Equine Training involves those who are interested in the
proper training of their equine by a quality professional.
Human Instruction is open to all who are
interested in the sport of horseback riding regardless of ability level.
Right Lead Equestrian will screen new clients to ensure a proper fit

More about Rick and Michelle
Michelle is a native of Shreveport Louisiana where her dad retired as a
Colonel from Barksdale Air Force Base. At the age of 5 she began
her equestrian adventure at a fox hunting barn and eventually became
involved in show hunters. Michelle competed successfully through
high school in the equitation divisions. In college she started
(at the time) the only Intercollegiate Horse Show Association in
the state of Louisiana. Upon graduation from the
Louisiana Scholar's College
Michelle worked as a technical writer at a chemical facility but quickly
searched out barns in her new area so she could get involved in the
equestrian world again. In 1995 Michelle passed her
North American Riding for the Handicapped
Registered Instructor Exam with a score of 99%. In 1997 she passed
the British Horse Society Stage I
and II exams with flying colors. In 2002 she passed the
World Sidesaddle Federation Inc.
exam and is now both a certified instructor and judge with the
organization. Michelle is on the Board of Directors for the
Cleveland Bay Horse Society of
North America and owns one Cleveland Bay of her own. She currently instructs riders in the Greater Baton
Rouge Louisiana area and even some who travel from out of state.
Michelle has produced many shows and actively competes in eventing and
dressage including (when possible) the winter eventing circuit in
Florida.
Rick
is a native of Donaldsonville Louisiana and a 1987 graduate of Ascension
Catholic. He attended
Louisiana Scholar's
College at Northwestern State
University in Natchitoches where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in
Liberal Arts with a concentration on Science History. Rick is
employed with
Occidental Chemical Corporation (OxyChem) in Convent Louisiana as
Environmental Manager
and and Laboratory Supervisor and currently chairs the Board of Directors
of E Federal
Credit Union. Rick is also active in the community and is
a committee member for the
ChemFriends. In what little spare time he has, Rick enjoys
computing, cooking, woodworking,
photography, and
supporting Michelle's horse activities.
Michelle and Rick met while attending college through a mutual friend
and actually knew each other for about three years before dating.
They graduated together in 1992 and were married in 1994 in Shreveport.
The young couple settled into a town home in Gonzales until 1999 when
they completed construction of their current home in Baton Rouge.
Working hard to find an equestrian home of their own and searching for
several years while leasing space for operations, Rick and Michelle
finally found acreage in St. Gabriel and moved their base of operations
there in 2006.
