horses, and is actively showing today. Michelle has a
wonderful coaching disposition and continually challenges riders of all ages and
skill levels. Click on "About RLEC" to the left to learn more.
FACILITIES
RLEC is situated on 15 acres in St. Gabriel,
Louisiana. The property is fenced and cross fenced with 5 foot tall
doweled round pole fence. We have many jumps and are planning several
cross country jumps as well. We have a PVC Dressage Arena from
Premiere Equestrian
set up on some great Bermuda grass turf. Rick built a two story 12 x 24
air conditioned tack room and most recently a concrete covered wash rack. There is ample room to ride and it is only a short
distance to the Mississippi river where long levee rides are possible.
Visit the "About RLEC" link to the left to learn more.
LOCATION
Right Lead Equestrian Center is located on Bayou Paul Lane,
just south of the University Club on Hwy 30 (Nicholson Extension). From
Baton Rouge take Bluebonnet down to Hwy 30 and take a left towards Gonzales.
Approximately 3 miles down you will come to a traffic light which is the Bayou
Paul, Hwy 30 intersection. Take a right towards the river. We will
be 1 mile down on your right.

07/05 - Thanks to Denise Clausen who graciously donated use
her horse TJ to our lesson program until we can find a suitable replacement for
Cue.
Lessons must go on. |

07/05 - A Big Right Lead welcome to our newest boarder
Diana Tooley and her
horse Tucker. Diana is from right here in Baton Rouge and Tucker is a 5
year old TB who retired from racing for about a year now. |

07/03 - IN MEMORY OF CUE - It is with a heavy heart that we
report one of our Right Lead family members has passed. On July 3rd during the
morning feeding Michelle noticed Cue Ball was unable to come up from the field
to eat. He had been kicked only minutes earlier and sustained a compound
fracture to his right front leg. It was just above the knee and the injury was
non-repairable. We have erected a memorial page for Cue
HERE. |

06/29 - Thanks to everyone who made it out to the
Melting
Pot for a short notice barn party. It was kind of weird seeing
everyone dressed in something other than breeches, but we definitely had a great time. |
|

06/11 - Michelle got only one day of rest from the Upperville show before hitting the road again. This time she
gave a
multiple day clinic in Little Rock Arkansas for the Rackensack Pony Club for
ratings. |

06/09 - So what do you do when gas is approaching $4 a
gallon? How about traveling over 3,000 miles round trip to compete at the
Upperville Colt & Horse Show. Michelle and Rick packed up Emma and a ton
of stuff and took the 20 hour drive up there. Thanks to Tracie Traver at
Ridgemor Farm for letting us overnight
at her place so we could break the driving into roughly 10 hour treks.
Tracie/Tally packed up two of their CBs and we all made our way to
Upperville. We arrived at Upperville late Friday and spent Saturday
watching some jumper classes, the sidesaddle classes, and visiting all the
shops. On Sunday we competed in the three Cleveland Bay classes open to
partbreds. Michelle and Emma didn't place in the in hand class, but they
took second in the under saddle class and fifth in hunter hack. Rick
played around taking a couple of pictures of the jumpers on Day 1 and then the
Sidesaddle classes. On day two Rick took pictures of the Cleveland Bay
classes.
HERE are the photos.
HERE are the CB class results. |

05/31 - "Baby" has an barn name now.. Sprite.
We're still working on her official name. Sprite is now 3 weeks
old and growing like a weed. When she's not asleep she is
extremely curious and wants to play. We had a rousing game of
chase while I was trying to take photos which is pretty obvious if you
view them.
HERE are some photos we shot today. |

05/31 - Congratulations Emily on the purchase of Ally
Oop. We're sure Ally will enjoy her new home with us and look
forward to seeing Emily jump back into the competition ring again (pun
intended).

Journey, and Ally along with their riders: Meg, Rachel, Katie, Emily,

their May Hunter Schooling Show. Meg/Scarlett won all 3 classes in
the Beginner equitation division and earned the championship.
Rachel/Scarlett won both the mini-stirrup O/F classes and was second in
the U/S class earning her the championship. Katie/Journey took home 3
thirds in the Novice Equitation division. Michelle/Emma won the hunter
hack, all 3 Schooling Hunter classes, and the championship. Emily/Ally
earned second in the Schooling Hunter U/S, their first outing.
HERE are some photos we shot today.

05/10 - Mini Emma (still no name yet) is 6 days
old now and is starting to show signs of being a chip off the old block.
She isn't afraid of anything, wanders off on her own, doesn't listen,
thinks she owns her paddock, and has a large personal space. But
she is as cute as a button, she has the longest eyelashes we've ever
seen, her teeth are coming in, and already she is starting to graze on
the grass.
HERE are some photos we shot today. This is also her first experience with mud
(from cleaning out the water trough).

05/04 - While feeding the horses this morning we
happened upon a little surprise in the paddock with Flashy. IT'S A
FILLY! We knew Flashy was close, but we didn't think she was that
close. Click
HERE for more information about the new addition and to see some
photos of her on her birthday! |

04/12 - Ever heard of Extreme Cowboy? BREC put
on something similar called River Road Round-Up. We packed up
Emily and Cue (AKA Bar-Ba-Cue) and Michelle and Emma (AKA I'm-A-10) and
made the short drive. We were asked to take pictures of the entire
competition so we have. Thanks to everyone for their effort in putting on a
fun event. The pictures are posted in the
photography section. |

04/06 - Thanks to everyone who came
out to the farm for our Crawfish Boil. Although we cooked over 100
lbs there wasn't even an ear of corn to bring home. Stay tuned,
we'll try to put something together again soon. |
|

03/09 - Meg/Scarlett and Michelle/Emma
packed things up and headed over to a Schooling Dressage Show over at
the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau, LA. Meg placed first in
Intro A and again in Intro B to earn her a Champion ribbon in Intro.
Michelle placed first in USDA Novice B and again in USDA Training A. The
weather was a bit on the nippy side but it was a really nice day for a
horse show. Thanks to everyone over at ASH for the wonderful show!
Pictures are posted in the photography section. |

03/01 - RLEC was asked to participate
in the Parade of Breeds for the LSU Vet School Open House.
